As the weather gets warmer and the days longer, we all start to look forward to the delicious and beautiful fruits and veggies of the season. But did you know that all that fresh produce, especially if organic, can be a powerful weapon in fighting inflammation? Try eating some of the following foods every day, and the next time you are in pain, head to the farmer’s market instead of the pharmacy!
Berries: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries
Dark Green Leafy Vegetables: spinach, kale, collards, chard, etc.
Broccoli and its “relatives”: broccoli rabe, broccolini
Beets: all colors and their greens (Wash the leaves, chop them up and sauté or steam them with the cubed beets for super-nutrition)
Fresh Herbs and Spices: Turmeric (peeled, grated, and added to soups, stir-fried veggies or shakes) Ginger, Garlic, and Rosemary to name just a few
